+- do not ignore invalid persisted state; translate explicitly
+- choose fetch strategy deliberately
+- avoid N+1 by design, not after the fact
+- validate slow query with EXPLAIN ANALYZE
+- do not hold DB transaction across remote call
+- PostgreSQL constraints are mandatory, not optional
